Kali ini saya aan berbagi tentang bahasa inggris. karena saya juga dari english department hehehe. meskipun ini artikel lama yang pernah ane post di blog lama ane, namun sayangnya blog ane sudah lama tidak aktif. jadi untuk merefresh kalian yang belum membaca artikel saya tentang Belajar tentang Bahasa kalau inggrisnya ya study of language. Artikel ini dulu adalah tugass dari dosen saya, jadi ini dapat dikatan review tentang makul yang telah saya ambil. ok broe, silakan membaca.
Study of Language
A. Study of Language We know abot language early, because everyday
we use language for communication to another people, but do we know the meaning
of language? Of course we did not about the meaning because there are so many
interprate about language. There are many question about meaning of
language,but there is no answer can quence our question about language too.
People from the past tried to find the meaning of language. But , the answer
from them is just from speculated and some reasoning that not logic, and the
result is not assepted by modern scholars. The modern scholars said that study
in the past is not undscintific. Because they think that language which
produced by human in the past just from man’s that imitate sound is his
environment, but they can’t imitate easily because imitate sound of nature is
not easy. They have ti practice continuosly and never give up and finally from
hard work they can imitate the sound perfectly. Finally they relize that
function of language is to communicate or conveying besasge. The theory above
called “bow- wow” theory. The theory pooh- pooh, the oother teory of language
that said language created by human sudden and unexpected situation or
condition, and the human repeated it continuosly until they can use the sudden language
as a signal or way to communicate to another people. The science not accept
that theory because the the theory just from speculation not from observation,
and also from hypothetical. The theiry is also not based on actual and factual
observation of the subject- matter, so is not scientific. Heredotus observation
about two little babies from egipt that isolated from their society and he want
to know what the first language will be spoken from the babies, but the
bservation by heredotus is not accepted because maybe he just use babies from
egipt and not another babies in the world, but not that the matter, the matter
is heredotus not use all of requirement about something observation can be
called scientific. But, in my opinion I think that study of language in the
past is can be called scientific. It has use one of criteria can be called
scientific, like use observation and object. They use observation to imitate
the sound of rainfall or pain dog or the sound of nature, it same I think in
the observation.
B. Study of Language as Science Linguistic called science because
it has the requirement to be called scientific. There are fives requirement of
science :
1. 1. The subject matter of a science should be clearly defined in
such a way that it is clearly separated from the rest of the univers;
2. The observation and investigation of the subject matter should be
carried out objectively without involving the subjective and personal attitude
of the investigator, the description of it, which is based on the result of
investigation, should likewise be objective.
3. Generalizations of obserserved facts will lead to the inductive
estabilishment of the so- called ‘ laws’, which should be verifiable by any
competent observe. The validity of these laws has to be tested by applying them
to that part of the data not used in forming the generalizations.
4. Statement on the result of investigation should be arranged in a
systematized form so that it will be easy for other people to read and
study.
A science is never static, it always considers its findings and
its estabilished laws, and is ready to change or modify them when they are
refused by additional data or by new findings. Different place and different
people have different interpretation and understanding about the language.
There are any differences about the language and the system communication. The
first the subject clearly defined, maybe here the subject is not imagine or
abstract, so we can describe it. The second, should be objectively not based on
our mind. Third, not only one subject. Fourth, systematic of course begin from
early . Fifth, grow up every era and never static in one understanding. C. The
Relevance Of Linguistics There is any different aim or goal between Linguistic
with language theaching, if we will combine them into one place it was
impossible to do, linguistic want to find out how linguistic works and and want
to describe it in the possible way and best way.
Linguistic is not relevant with language theaaching because
language theaching in is more complex before. And it has three main
stands:
- theoretical
contributions from linguistics, psycologi and social theory,
- methodelogi
and teaching technique,
- aids and equipment. Theacher of course know about usage of language more than students, increaseness of language should make a theacher more competent in his job. With linguistic we can understand more details, and it also useful for inexpected teachers. Linguistics also source of assumptionit has to put on the teaching situation and also combine between method and learner because them is same important. The most important is theacher has to make allies with linguistics and everythings is gonna allright
